Any Grime fans who follow the platform will surely be as excited as we are for the resurgence of the UK Grime scene with more and more music dropping by the day. While looking around, we have noticed a number of Grime artists making a point to release their music in the same authentic way that we know Grime for while still fitting in with how the music industry is today.
1 of the artists that caught our attention the most with this is Grime legend JME from Boy Better Know. His recent campign of releases have been as authentic as you can get from the music, to the merch and even the marketing feeling very raw and organic as well. Why JME is standing out to us at the moment is the fact he is also showing his audience how he did everything so other musicians can replicate and take inspiration from his methods to implement into their own releases.
We can't lie, the way JME has been explaining why he wants to release music in this way during interviews and then seeing it all come together grabbed our interest. When situations like this happen, what else is there to do other than buy some stuff. In a world of everything digital, easy downloads and easy to rip music, it is refreshing to be able to buy music and actually own your copy. When the delivery came through, it brought back memories of going to the record shop or your physical mixtape coming through the post. It reminded us of a time when the only way to hear music was on the radio, if you got a copy yourself, if you was at a friends who had a copy or a rave.
After hearing On Top, 4NM and *****, we had to get our copy for the real experience and also to support the movement. Boy Better Know has been inspiring for years, even us as young teens had all the CD's, Mixtapes and locked into radio shows. How fitting that people like JME are the 1s to bring life back into Grime in 2025.
Everything JME has done for this project so far is on point and we are looking forward to see what other madness his mind comes up with. As always, JME has again demonstrated how intelegent he is while also embracing his street culture to the core.
