What To Take Away From The Mobos Sheffield Event?

On Monday February 5th, the Mobos and Sheffield City Council in association with Pattern and Push plus the popular Slam Barz team put together a mixture of Sheffield best talent to showcase to the Mobos audience.

Of course, we had to go and have a look at things for ourselves as we have long been advocates for talent within Sheffield and seeing this talent get the exposure they have longed deserved. Following such an impressive display must surely follow w a music geek writer letting you know how much the planet in the city has grown and is at the most impressive it has looked in decades!

What we take away from this display at the historical Crucible Theatre in Sheffield is, SHEFFIELD CITY IT IS TIME TO STAND UP WITH CHEST!

This was not just some talent show and to say this was a free entry event, there would be no complaints over here if there was a ticket fee to watch what was one of the best group performances this city has ever displayed. If you are well known to the history of the Sheffield music scene, it can be very political at times which adds to the impressive show that has been put together by all organisers involved.

This event has increased hopes that Sheffield continues to move forward with developments to build a solid foundation in all areas for this talent, and future talent, to continue growing and building their audiences in and out of Sheffield. You got it all in this show, all our top black talent all on the same stage at the same time such as Coco, Deep Green, KDot, Skinz, X Factor appearing Lavelle, BBC 1Xtra charting Nicole Marie in the mix with some of Sheffield fresh and upcoming talent.

Not only did you get all this talent under 1 roof, you had the extra surprise of three artists featuring on a track together produced by Sheffield's Toddla T which was premiered on the DJ Target Show on the night of this event. If all of this dose not show you that Sheffield is ready, serious and just s talented as other cities in the UK, what else will? Check out the Newley released 'All Star Riddim' featuring a number of Sheffield very best to offer

What an incredible way to start 2024 in Sheffield and the prospective of what else is to follow has becoming more exciting. The city as a whole feels like it is waking up more and more as the weeks and months go by. Not only are we seeing an impressive range of artists, we are seeing the return of good vibe diverse events, more platforms to showcase what is going on, more people getting in the right positions of power to make a real an impactful difference among other changes for the better.

In all our years in Sheffield, I can not remember a time where the city was so healthy and balanced with competition, partnerships, rivalries, exposure, creativity and all the other ingredients needed to build a strong scene. Even if you was not involved in the Mobos event as an artist, do not be deterred and keep doing your part in your respective areas as it is all having a positive impact in the right direction. More opportunities will come along the way that are just as exciting and if this event is a teaser of what is to come by the skilled talent in the City, than all we could say at this stage is buckle up and get ready!

To wrap this up, what we take away from the Sheffield event is that we should be proud as a city of our representatives for this evening, the hard work put into this and the potential opportunities this opens up now.
