We have another foodie spot for our Beat Foodies on the platform. It had been a while since any of the team paid a visit to Smoke BBQ, located at 1 St Paul's Pl, City Centre, Sheffield S1 2NB, so another visit was long overdue. The venue has had a bit of an updated look and menu so it was like trying somewhere new again for us.
1 of the shows that has been on in the office as background noise is the Barbaque Showdown show avilaable on Netflix. However, all this did is make everyone want a taste of some Smoke BBQ flavours ourselves. Lucky for us, we have a very decent local smoke barbaque spot in Sheff.
In terms of the menu, you have a nice selection of smoked meats to choose from without feeling overloaded with options. From 2 hours up to 16 hour smoked meats, the smells alone had us eager to tuck in. As we could not decide on what to go for, we opted for the 'Smoke Dirty Sharer Platter' which gives you a generous veratiy of some of the meats to share. This particular option came with baby back ribs, smoked chicken, pulled pork, wings, linked sausage with chips and sides, all for around £41 which you can't really go wrong with that. After watching so many smoked BBQ shows, it was nice to get a bite for real instead of your mouth left watering after tv shows.
Smoke BBQ did NOT dissapoint when it came to the food at all! the pulled pork was exactly how you want your pulled pork. It pulled easy, was soft in texture, juice and full of flavour. The baby back ribs for sure will have you licking your fingers after again perfectly cooked, stickey, juicy and flavour packed. Their linked sausages are some of the best we have tasted in Sheffield so far hands down and really complimented the dish as a whole. Chips nice and crispy, the onions really added to the overall feast and sauces brought every bite to life, especially their hot sauce. We was not overly keen on the wings but this was more the flavour we picked on the day and we wished we selected another. But the chicken itself tasted real good. If you are wondering if you will get value for money, this between 2 or 3 people, depending how much you like to eat, will leave you feeling full for sure.
If you find yourself in the Sheffield City Centre and fancy something a bit different to eat while in the area, we would like to recomend that you go take yourself to Smoke BBQ and give it a try. Needless to say, we will be going back soon with more of the team!
